India
is a land of diversity. A number of religions find it as their home. People of
different caste, community, and ethnicity live together here; no other country
in the world has much diversity as India has. It’s a beautiful country,
developing day by day. Today we have made remarkable developments in every
sphere of life, and with this pace that day where India will become a
superpower in not far away.
But there is another side to the coin as well, whereas some leaders are trying to make the country a better place, others are busy fleecing the pockets of people to fill their own. They are so busy looting the country that what is happening in the country is of no concern to them. Delhi has silently earned the tag of “The Rape Capital of the World”. Rapes, Gang rapes, Honor killings, harassing of women are happening in the country as if there is no law to stop them. Corruption has rooted itself so deep that even the lawmakers are infected by it, the lawmakers are the new lawbreakers, and Scams are happening left and right. A person who is over educated for a job is being turned away because the other candidate had political contacts and influence which made him more suitable for the job. Is the Indian Government Sleeping? Are we only capable of MAKING laws and not implementing them? If the Government can’t get rid us of these problems, who will?!

The
answer as we all know is WE the people, THE YOUTH who suffer the most. In spite
of the long hours we put studying for our competitive exams for that degree for
that college we get rejected, someone else with a comparatively less score
having a SC/ST certificate gets that opportunity. How does it make us feel?
Pretty sad, as it has happened to me too. The culprit is not that person who
belongs to the SC/ST category; it’s the very people who make these laws who are
at fault. Today because of reservation most of the talented youth who are
creative and could be the next APJ Abdul Kalam get rejected of the education
they deserve. This injustice is not limited to education; it is spreading
sideways and deep within the system.
A girl gets raped, media covers the issue, women right activists make a show, ministers and police make a statement, and culprits get caught and are put behind bars. What next? Another rape happens. The same cycle repeats with the addition that the people instead blames the girl who got raped, such is the mindset of the society. Life gets difficult for her, she can’t get out of the trauma, people look at her with disgust, she doesn’t feel normal and safe while walking in the streets, her social circle reduces and she goes into depression, do the media cover that? Sadly No.

A
boy and a girl falls in love are happy together and have many things in common,
understand each other without even saying anything. Care for each other, the
warmth of their relation is special. They decide to marry, but instead are
beaten black and blue and are killed in public. Why? Because they belong to
different communities, different castes. Is that justified? In most cases it’s
the girl who survives, she is being taunted day in and day out. She is married
to someone 5 to 10 years older than her, has a completely different mindset as
compared to her and is no way compatible to her. But marriage is justified in
the eyes of society because both the man and women were of different
communities. I ask who made these communities. Find them!
A
women works hard throughout her life, she studies and performs extremely well
in her studies. She is kept as a second
priority when it comes to education. Why? Well she has brothers who are
reckless, are low performers but the family thinks that they need to be
educated. If somehow she is lucky enough to complete her higher education and
gets a good job, what next? Not many people appreciate it. Why? Because women
belong in the house is the norm set in the society. Still she works hard, goes
to office and performs well as compared to her male colleagues. What next? She
is harassed. Those accidental brushes, piercing eyes looking at her as if she
is just an object meant for pleasure become her daily routine. Why? Why can’t
this stop. Who needs to act? It’s us, the very people who are taking it upon
us.
