Life is not about what you could not
do so far, it’s about what you can still do. Wait and never give up, miracles
happen every day. Everything happens for a reason, live it, love it, learn from
it. Make your smile change the world, but don’t let world change your smile.
Failures are an opportunity to restart a fresh and this time perform much
better than earlier. It will always seem impossible until it’s not done. So go
and make it possible. One also needs to inculcate the core leadership qualities
in order to improve our performance. The core leadership qualities are those
qualities or skills that get people promoted into leadership position. The
people who demonstrate these qualities are labeled as “born leaders”. These are
the foundation of effective leadership. Core leadership is categorized in three
categories or sub parts. These are –
- Strategy (Vision, Acumen, Planning, Courage to lead)
- Action ( Decision making, Communication, Mobilizing others)
- Results ( Risk taking, Result focus, Agility)
Lt us see the details of these and what they really mean for us:
1. Strategy-
“Talent hits the target that no
one else can hit, but a genius hits a target that no one else can see”.
Strategy is to know how to look ahead, spot the trends and anticipate the
course of action that would help to maximize your success. Strategy requires
vision, acumen, planning and courage to lead. Inspired and dedicated leaders
take their group towards a great vision. A vision that can prove to be the
milestone setting vision in the history of success. Savvy leaders must possess
an up-to-date understanding of the broader issue affecting their field of
expertise and their group. Leaders accurately anticipate upcoming events to set
appropriate goals and get things done. Courageous leaders avail all the
opportunities they get and stand strong in the face of adversity and take
necessary risks to achieve results.
2. Action-
“if your actions inspire others to
dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader ”.
An idea a curious thing that will not work unless you do. Action requires
decision making, communication and mobilizing others. Effective leaders make
sound decisions that consider multiple options, seek inputs from others which
are appropriate and reach out at the goal within a timely manner. When leaders
create an open environment in which thoughts are expressed freely and
information flows easily, they increase the effectiveness of their group.
Leaders motivate and influence those around them. By mobilizing others, leaders
move the group as a whole towards obtainable and seemingly unobtainable
results.
3. Results-
“Obstacles may come and go, they
come just test you, so be brave and confident in order to come over them and
come winning”. It’s a myth that hard work is enough to achieve
results. Far too often, obstacles are thrown in a leader’s path that requires a
special set of skills to reach the finish line. Results require risk taking,
results focus and agility. Leaders are able to manoeuvre through situations
that require them to push the team mates, risk all what they have and stand
behind a chosen course of action. Leaders who achieve results are not aliens
but they remain focused, get and keep their people focused, and do whatever is necessary
to see things through. Leaders who consistently reach their goals are
consistently adapting to their surroundings; they respond quickly to
uncertainty and change to function effectively.
