In Part 1 of this series we saw all about where the corridor extends and how its strategically important for both the countries including China and Pakistan. But all that looks good is not easy to achieve there there might be certain problems in the way, no doubt it will make the two countries better with this project. Lets see what all could be there.
Difficulties in Implementation:
Difficulties in Implementation:
It is estimated that some deals may not be completed within the given time frame due lack of
competency, corruption and transparency. Some level of corruption is
expected at both the ends Also, there is a political dispute in Pakistan with
some politicians threatening the present government that the route of the
corridor must pass through some specific areas.
Another problem is that Gwadar is located in the
South-western side of Pakistan, which is on the Arabian Sea Coast of Balochistan and has been facing the problems
from the separatist’s insurgency.
Moreover, Kashgar is at the Centre of the China's only Muslim
majority state Xinjiang region. It is populated
by Uighur Muslims and is home to many separatists. Between Gwadar and
Kashgar, the corridor passes through areas that are within the striking range of Pakistan's Taliban
insurgency. Until recently they controlled territory along Pakistan's north Western Border with Afghanistan,
and hosted the largest concentration of Uighur militants outside China. They still have presence in the border
region, thought heir sanctuaries have been disrupted by a Pakistani military
operation started in June 2014.

Both Uighur and Pakistani
Taliban militants have been targeting Chinese nationals in Pakistan. The Baloch
insurgents have insurgents have their roots in socialist ideology, but they too
dismiss the Chinese as allies of Punjab. Pakistan
has decide to raise a special force to safeguard this 3000 KM corridor
Impact
of CPEC over India:
The formation CPEC
would enlarge China's footprints in the
Indian Ocean and make it a much more powerful nation in the Indian Ocean
geographically and strategically. It will also allow high level of Chinese
presence in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir which is not at all in favour of
India. Hence, it will make Pakistan more stronger economically but also in
terms of its military might in the POK region which will be an itch for India
in the near future.
Conclusion:
On a high level the
CPEC seem to be a harmless project which beneficial to China and specially
Pakistan economically. It will support Pakistan which has become nothing but a
failed state due to the demons created by them. Also, it will benefit the
Chinese in the North-western region of Xinjiang which has been under-developed
and open the trade route for Middle-East and Africa.

But, on the other side
it would help china to have a more firm
grip on the western side of the Indian Ocean where it does not have any
presence. Also, this trade route which passes through the POK might be a
strategic move to promote military
movement in this area by Pakistan and China and will create danger for
India as we all know that Enemy's enemy
is a friend.
