Tricks of Time Management for SSB Aspirant

Hello, Aspirants, I am writing for the first time for the blog. I am very excited to share my knowledge with you. Whenever Defense word comes in our mind, we always think of Discipline. When I was appearing for NCC exam, all the cadets were trying to get help from each other and there was one Officer, present there, who said one line which changed my life.

He said, “Cadets, Discipline comes from inside”. So, Friends, we have to train our self from our soul to get Officer Like Qualities. Today, I will share my knowledge and experience of Time management.

What do we mean by time management? A simple definition of time management is to do the things with more efficiency in a time constraint. Time management makes you more organised person which is a part of Discipline. The first question always comes in any aspirant is that why time management? Time management will help you to make the right decision for the right time. You can use your time more efficiently and avoid unwanted task to come in between your goal.

Methods:-
This topic cannot be covered in one article. There is a reason why I am not putting all the information in 1 article because this process does not take days or week but takes months and years to become a part of life. So, I will try my best to give as much as information in 3-4 articles of Time Management.

Today I will guide you, how to manage the Daily task in a day.

Step 1: Bring all To Do List into 1 Big TO DO LIST
SSB

Your first task is to put all the tasks in 1 TO DO List rather than having different To Do List for different things e.g.- Family, friends, projects, party, etc. It will avoid the clashes of time you have assigned to a different task in the different list and also it will save you time while calculating the time required for the tasks.

Step 2: Analyse the tasks with the Eisenhower Method
SSB

Fill your entire tasks in the 4 boxes as per their important as well as urgency. Avoid doing “Not Important” task first. Therefore you have to do the task in the first box and then the second box and then if you have time then go for the third box and then the fourth box.
How to place the task in boxes:
1.      Important/Urgent quadrant is done immediately and personally. e.g.- crises, deadlines
2.      Important/Not Urgent quadrant gets an end date and is done personally. e.g.- planning
3.      Unimportant/Urgent quadrant is delegated. e.g.- interruptions, meetings
4.      Unimportant/Not Urgent quadrant are dropped. e.g.- time wasters, pleasant activities

Step 3: Arrange the task in Timetable

This is a very important step as you have to put the entire task of the day in the timetable. So you can write it done on a diary or you can also use App also. I am using one App called aCalender (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.withouthat.acalendar&hl=en). You can download this app from Google play on your mobile. You can set a reminder for the task also and you can make a time table for as many days as you want. It is better to make a week timetable rather than a 1-day timetable. Most important tip to make timetable is to work on it at night before the day so that you can avoid the time wastage at morning.

Friends, these are the simple methods I am using to become a more organised person. I hope you will also get help from this. I will keep posting more articles about Time management in future. Best of Luck
Jai Hind
