SSB GD Series :Do Indian youth Act or React - Part 2

In Part 1 of this series the plot was set and it was told that India is a developing country and we need to develop it by developing the youth who normally conducts a lot of mistakes, or crimes because of the effects of certain policies or the laws and this might bring India in backward state. We as youth also need to develop along with the country, we need to change our thought process and should be willing to work truthfully for our nation. The time is not far off when India again will be a golden bird. Lets see how this could be done.

The country is developing, but sadly we are not. Today, the youth watch channels filled with news of corruption, scams, rapes, intrusions from neighboring countries. They comment on it for a while and then let it go. If someone gets rejected for a job or for education in a college just because he didn’t fall in that reservation system the government has made, why can’t we all back him up. Why not make a peaceful protest and make the government see that these reservations are changing the course of life of people. Among many other things, it’s because of these reservations that people prefer studying outside, because there they don’t have to deal with all this.
During the Delhi Commonwealth Games, the country faced a lot of shame; money which was to be utilized to make Delhi ready for the Commonwealth Games was instead stuffed in bank accounts of the contractors and politicians. Why can’t even after knowing the wrong which is being to us, the youth and everyone us, we keep quiet? December 16, 2012 a girl gets gang raped and is thrown out the moving bus she was raped in. Her injuries.. Serious, her pain… Well there are no words. The news hit the nation, and the youth ACTED! Protests were made, people were called to support through social networking sites, and everyone participated and mourned for the tragedy which happened. Pressurized by the youth, the government HAD to act, arrests were made, a special court was made, and the nation was on fire.

Even after Nirbhaya died, the rape cases have not stopped, women are still being looked at in the same way they were looked before. What happened to the youth of the country? Why are we still not making protests? Why do always need an external push to react? Why can’t we take matter in our own hands?

It is time that we the youth of the country instead of acting start reacting to the wrong which is being done to us. If someone asks us for bribe, complain to the anti-corruptions cells. If the politicians are making scams left and right, the youth should and must come forward, these scams do affect everyone’s life directly or indirectly. Peaceful protests would make the government act, the ministers would be put behind bars and instead of cases getting hanged in courts for years would be solved in days and justice would be provided. We as youth need to enter politics where we can take matters in our own hands and make the change the country desperately needs.
To stop rape, change has to start from the root level. Right from schools to colleges to corporate. Schools, colleges and corporate must allow students and professionals to put up a newspaper of their own, weekly journals, where they can jot down the problems they are facing. If a bus driver or a conductor or a student or a colleague is troubling you, is making you uncomfortable, make it public!  Shame them!

The country is a family, we maybe Sikhs, Christians, Hindus or Muslims, but we are Indians first. Evils like corruption, rape and scams have already started to weaken our roots, let us not wait anymore and start acting on it. The youth of the country needs to take matters in their own hands and take up the responsibility to act. If each one of us will raise our voice to the wrong which is happening to the people of the country, if each one contributes and instead of sitting back at home to watch that match would actually go out and sit in that protest against that scam, against that  harassment incident, if each one of us would make a pledge to stop rape from happening to stop these honor killings from happening, the day this country would be actually set upon a path where opportunities will not fall short and people will not be deprived of their right and women would walk without fear is not far away. India needs us, come let’s make a change!
