SSB Current Affair Series: January 2016 - Part 1

Current affairs for an important part of discussion at SSB during the Interview and can help the aspirants during GD and Lecturette. Also it evolves ideas in psychology round as well.Lets have a look in the current affairs for this near January month.

·         ·         Former Army Chief General Kotikalapudi Venkata Krishna Rao died: He was a founder Instructor of the Pune based National Defence Academy (NDA) during 1949-51. He played a key role in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.  He was awarded with the Param Vishist Seva Medal for displaying outstanding leadership, determination, courage and drive during Jammu and Kashmir war.
·         Nathuram Godse - The Story of an Assassin - Anup Ashok Sardesai -The book titled Nathuram Godse - The Story of an Assassin authored by Anup Ashok Sardesai was released on 30 January 2016.
·         Japan on 28 January 2016 unveiled country’s first stealth fighter aircraft X-2. The domestically-built fighter aircraft seeks to augment defence capabilities of the country that is surrounded by China and Russia that already have radar-evading aircraft technology. X-2 is expected to undergo its first test-flight in February 2016.
·         China and Iran on 23 January 2016 signed 17 documents & letters of intents to broaden bilateral cooperation. The agreements were signed in Tehran during the Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Iran.In early January 2016, the USA, European nations and Japan lifted oil and financial sanctions under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA) or Vienna agreement.
·         Iran and Airbus on 28 January 2016 signed two agreements covering new aircraft orders and a comprehensive civil aviation co-operation package. The agreement includes purchase of 118 new Airbus aircrafts.
·         31 countries on 27 January 2016 signed the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement (MCAA) to boost transparency in the functioning of multinational enterprises (MNEs) by allowing automatic exchange of Country-by-Country reports by tax administrators.
·         Human Rights up Front: An initiative to strengthen United Nations preventive work:
The term Human Rights up Front initiative was in news on 28 January 2016 as Deputy Secretary general in his address to UN General Assembly called the Member states, the Security Council along with ECOSOaC (UN Economic and Social Council) to play important role in promoting the approaches and changes, which the initiative seeks to achieve.
·         India and France on 24 January 2016 inked 16 agreements at the India-France Business Summit in Chandigarh. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) covered a wide range of sectors like urban development, urban transport, water and waste treatment and solar energy.
·         India on 28 January 2016 test fired its indigenously-built surface-to-air Akash missile from complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipuri in Odisha. It was as part of a user trial mission.Three rounds of test were carried out by Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel aiming at para-barrel targets.
·         Kerala became the first state in the country to achieve 100 percent primary education. To this effect, a declaration was made by the Vice President of India Hamid Ansari on 12 January 2016 at a special ceremony organised at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.The announcement was made by Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga. The sanctions were lifted after the United Nations atomic energy agency confirmed on 16 January 2016 that Tehran has fully taken steps to curb its disputed nuclear programme.
·         The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research (KISR) on 20 January 2016 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
