The process of Indian coastguard is as follows:
1) Preliminary Selection Board (PSB) : This consists of further two rounds where elimination of the candidates is done.

  • Aptitude/ OIR : The aptitude for Indian coastguard is specially designed where no booklets are given , but the questions are shown on the screen. Each question is timed properly as per the difficulty level. So one has to be quick as aspirant would not know what time a particular question would stay in front of them. So they have to be quick and apply their brain properly. The aspirants who are recommended in this phase only becomes eligible for next round which is picture perception and description. the level of question is average here and consists of Quant, Logical reasoning, Verbal , Non verbal, Data interpretation, etc. start preparation for these rounds now.
  • PPDT: One need to clear the previous round if they want to be part of this round. A hazy picture is shown in this round and aspirants are expected to write a story based on their perception. They would also narrate their story in front of assessors individually , This will be followed by group discussion where the group need to come to consensus. One need to reveal officer potential at this stage to clear this round and get recommended for FSB which is the next level for recommendation. At each level of this process OLQ's will be checked, hence aspirants should work hard on personality and psychology.

2) Final Selection board (FSB) : the aspirants who clear the above hurdle reach this stage and this is more or less similar to SSB but there are also few differences. the details for FSB will e seen in next article on this series. Aspirants should start working hard as of now for the PSB and get recommended.

Indian coastguard provides lot of facilities similar to the three defense forces. One should work hard from now and not wait for the last moment as PSB, FSB are all personality based assessments and need personality improvements which always takes time. Self introspection is best technique to prepare for these exams. One need to study their life to understand what they have and what not in terms of strength and weakness.

We at SSB vision have designed tests to conduct self introspection and make it simple. These tests tell aspirants what are their degrees of Strength and weakness. Scientific methods are followed in this for accuracy. This is available under mentorship program. The details can be visited under the tab named with this.
