India is a growing and developing economy and doing wonders in every field. The present government in India is supporting all the measures and the scheme of Made in India is a wonderful concept of the Prime minister that will always help raising the bars of Indian economy at one end and would save the financial load of the country. Under this scheme defense is also benefited and the problem of brain drain is also controlled. The recent launch of the Agni series is one such example.

India has successfully test-fired its nuclear capable strategic ballistic missile Agni-IV which is a surface to surface missile with a strike range of 4000 km as part of a user trial from launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Dr. Abdul Kalam Island, formerly known as Wheeler Island off Odisha coast at 11.55 am on 2nd January 2017.

This trial test was described as successful by DRDO because it met all mission objectives. Agni-IV is developed indigenously by DRDO and this one is the 6th trial in the series of tests. Agni-IV is the fourth in Agni series of missiles which is developed by DRDO. The Missile is lighter in weight and has two stages of Solid Propulsion and a Payload with Re-entry heat shield which can withstand temperatures in the range of 4000 degree centigrade and insures the avionics function normally inside with temperature less than 50 degree centigrade. The Composite Rocket Motor which has been used for the first time in Agni-IV, has given excellent performance.
The Missile System is equipped with modern and compact Avionics with Redundancy to provide high level of reliability. The indigenous Ring Laser Gyros based high accuracy INS (RINS) and Micro Navigation System (MINGS) complementing each other in redundant mode have been successfully flown in guidance mode. The high performance, 5th generation onboard computer with distributed Avionics architecture, high speed reliable communication bus and a full Digital Control System have controlled and guided the Missile to the target. The Missile reached the target with very high level of accuracy. Radars and electro-optical systems along the Coast of Odisha have tracked and monitored all the parameters of the Missile. Two Indian Naval ships located near the target witnessed the final event.

Agni IV can take a warhead of 1 tonne. It is designed to increase the kill efficiency along with a higher range performance. Agni IV is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies that includes indigenously developed ring laser gyro and composite rocket motor. It is a two-stage missile powered by solid propellant. Its length is 20 meters and launch weight is 17 tonnes having 4000 km of strike range. It can be fired from a road mobile launcher. Radar and other signatures of Agni-IV have been significantly reduced to make them much more immune to counter-measures. Long range missile Agni 5 was also successfully carried out from this launch site in December 2016.
