General awareness is really important for everyone and specially for defense aspirant. Week two of this new year saw lot of up down in UP politics while many ammunitions are being purchased for increasing the power of our defense forces. Lets see other updates.

11. 20 WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITIES SOON, SAYS PRAKASH JAVADEKAR
·         He said private universities to be among the top 10 in the world
·         Govt has released the funds under the PM scholarship program for 150 students, of which 50 are reserved for children of Indian parents residing in gulf countries.
·         The govt will give 2000 for boys and 2250 for girls per month. But there are very few takers for the gulf scholar ship.

14. FROM APRIL 1 AADHAR WILL BE MANADATORY FOR CENTER’S RURAL EMPLOYMENT WORK
·         People living in rural areas  need have aadhar under mahatma Gandhi national rural employment guarantee scheme
·         People register under the scheme will be required to give  proof of possessions of aadhar or undergo the enrolment process till march 31,2017
15. RS 4807 CRORES BLACK MONEY SEIZED POST NOTE BAN, RS112 CRORES IN NEW CURRENCY
·         Income tax department said that the value of seized jewellery in the total is rs97.8 crores
·         Total undisclosed income admitted or detected as part of this action, till January 5, is Rs 4807.45 cr.
16. US DEPLOY 300 SOLIDERS IN HELMAND PROVINCE TO FIGHT TALIBAN
·         US will deploy around 300 soldiers in southern helmand province of Afganisthan
·         Troops will reportedly deployed by the US marine to train, advise and assist the leaders of the afghan national army, reports the khamma Press
17. CSIR LAB DEVELOPS ADVANCE READING MACHINE FOR VISUALLY CHALLENGED
·         Good news for visually challenged persons this New year- tens of thousands of them can get the most advanced reading, machine, at an affordable cost
·         Chandigarh based central scientific instruments organisation(CISO) under the council of scientific and industrial research(CISR) has developed a reading machine for visually challenged
18. NEW ZELAND THRASH BANGLADESH TO SWEEP T20 SERIES
·         Corey Anderson made an unbeaten 94 from 41 balls and shared a 124 run partnership with the captain kane Williamson which guided New Zealand to 27 run win over Bangladesh Sunday and a 3-0 sweep on their T-20 cricket series
19. THOUSANDS EVACUATED AS STROM HITS SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES
·         6000 people were evacuated from their homes as a tropical storm hit the southern Philippines on Sunday, raising the risk floods and landslide with maximum gusts of 70 km per hour
20. INDIAN ARMY ORDERS 200 ROBOTS TTO DEFUSE EXPLOSIVES
·         Robotics scientists and IIT-delhi professor Dr subir kumar saha, speaking at 104 Indiana science congress said that India has progressed a lot in robotics
·         Dr saha said DRDO has developed Daksh, a robot that can defuse bombs.
