JALLIKATTU BAN: SUPREME COURT DECLINES TO PASS ORDER BEFORE PONGAL:

The Supreme Court on Thursday turned down a plea
seeking its intervention to pass judgment on bull taming sport Jallikattu
before Saturday.
·
The Tamil Nadu government has mounted pressure
for promulgation of an ordinance to enable Jallikattu, the Centre had said
though "things are ready" on its side, it would wait for the order of
Supreme Court which it hoped will do justice so that people can celebrate
festival as per tradition.

VIBRANT GUJARAT GLOBAL SUMMIT: RS 50,000 CRORE WORTH MOUS SIGNED

Over Rs 50,000 crore worth MoUs for investments and
credit were signed at the end of the second day of the Vibrant Gujarat Global
Summit with State Bank of India leading the pack.
·
SBI signed memorandum of understanding with the
Gujarat Government for extending bank credit especially in priority sector.
Under the MoU country's largest lender will give Rs 30,000 crore worth loans
over two-year period, officials announced at the Summit here.
·
NABARD inked an MoU for rural financing worth Rs
13,000 crore while Union Bank of India entered into a
pact with the state government for providing Rs 5,600 crore of bank finance
across various sectors.

BETI BACHAO-BETI PADHAO’

Samay Foundation with the theme ‘Nation first’ has taken initiative to
promote Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao to boom the initiative, Suknya Samridhi Yojna
here on Tuesday at Chilla Village in Mayur Vihar extension.

Speaking on the occasion Sunil Chaudhary BJP
convenor said, the Prime Minister ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ initiative should
be spread to promote girl child education across the society and country. He
further said, Suknaya Samriddhi account will help to give advantage to a girl
child for her education and marriage

ASSEMBLY POLLS: BJP RELEASES LIST OF 29 CANDIDATES

The BJP on Thursday released its first list of 29
candidates for the Goa assembly elections scheduled to be held on February 4.
·
The list includes the names of the 18 incumbent
legislators.
·
Union minister J.P. Nadda announced the names of
the candidates after a meeting of the party's central election committee
(CEC).
·
The list of 29 MLAs however does not include
candidates for the Mayem and Canacona seat, which has seen intense squabbling
between the sitting MLAs Anant
Shet and Ramesh
Tawadkar respectively
and rival candidates. While Shet is a Speaker of the Goa legislative assembly,
Tawadkar is a sports minister.

sanctions on 7 senior North Korean officials in response to "serious human
rights abuses and censorship", a media report said on Thursday.
