SSB Lecturette Series: YEMEN Crisis - Part 2

In Part 1 of this series we saw the history of how Yemen was divided and then again united and also how this war began, who were the main actors and how the scene worsened. Now lets see the remaining part of the story.

The growing power and aggression of the Houthi’s is the new threat in the peninsular region. Yemen's President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi asked the UN Security Council to back military action by "willing countries" against the Houthi rebels. In a letter, he requested a resolution authorizing immediate support for "the legitimate authority by all means" against the advancing rebels.

After this On 25 March, Saudi Arabia and several other countries announced that they had begun military operations in Yemen against Houthi rebels. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and theUnited Arab Emirates issued a statement along with Saudi Arabia saying their goal is to "repel Houthi aggression" in Yemen. Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Sudan are also members of the coalition. In addition to airstrikes against targets throughout Yemen, which the General People's Congress blamed for causing dozens of civilian casualties, Egyptian warships reportedly shelled a Houthi column as it advanced toward Aden on 30 March, and Saudi and Houthi forces traded artillery and rocket fire across the border between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
After these countries called upon attack on Yemen, the biggest responsibility came across the Indian Government was to evacuate its citizens from Yemen. The first Navy ship docked in Aden on April 1 .  People were taken out of Aden, Sana'a, Al Hodeida and Al Mulala, ferried to Djibouti and thence by Air India planes and IAF C-17 Globemaster aircraft. Djibouti is a port and INS Mumbai, INS Sumitra and INS Tarkash are functioning there. India nearly evacuated 3500 Indians and around 300 people from 26 different countries on their requests of evacuating their citizens. These countries include our neighboring countries , US, UK, Germany , France , etc. Also 3-4 hours of window time was given to New Delhi for evacuation of citizens from Sana’a via air as it has been declared a no fly zone for ongoing war. India also deputed General VK Singh, minister of state, external affairs and former chief of the army staff to Sana'a and Djibouti to take on the spot decisions and cut through the red tape. The evacuation mission carried out by India was widely appreciated.
SSB Vision

Let it be from any side, the bombs are being blasted, innocent are losing their lives, the message of universal brotherhoodness is lost somewhere, peace is vanishing and the vision of a happy, peaceful and prosperous world is becoming blurred. No religion has ever said to kill anyone to become supreme, yet now days terrorist organizations are fighting wars on the basis of the same. Human with his gifted brain has so cleverly modified and percept the sayings and teachings of the religious heads that they are now even able to convince others to kill any person on the name of religion and religious supremacy. But we all will have to stand tall , supporting each other , maintaining the love and peace that used to prevail and is being tried to suppressed and show the world that we can’t let humanity die at any cost . After all we all are Humans.
